2011 Christmas Packets for Prisoners

The Christmas Packet for Prisoners Project began in 1976.  It is a joint project of SCBC and SCWMU.  As the project has grown, our churches continue to give faithfully and generously.

Many men, women and youth have no one who cares for them.  They have no visitors nor do they receive gifts at Christmas.  You made Christmas special for them through this ministry.  You provided hope and love.  As a result, some have received the true Christmas gift.  They have come to know Christ because you care.

It's the easiest gift on your shopping list.  Every gift on the list is in your grocery store and to gift wrap it, all you do is put it in a zipper plastic bag.  Of all the gifts you give, it's the one most likely to change a life.

Every single Prisoner Packet gets delivered.  And every single one contains a Message of Hope - the story of Christ's love and forgiveness for all.

You put it together.  We'll put it in the right hands.  God will do the rest.

Packets are due to LBA oNovember 28, 2012

It is likely that all approved items for 2012 will be the same as those for 2011 but there could always be changes. Please check back later in the year for updated information.

2011 List of Approved Prisoner Packet Items:

  • One BLACK non-retractable pen (no wire clip)
  • One 6 oz. or larger toothpaste
  • One Adult-sized toothbrush (INDIVIDUALLY FACTORY SEALED; NO MULTI-PACKS)
  • One 4 to 6 oz. bar of soap
  • One junior legal or a 50 page 5 1/2" x 8" or larger writing tablet, 100 pages max. (no wire bound)
  • Five first-class stamp-embossed envelopes (purchased at the Post Office, no metered or stamped envelopes)
  • Two rolls of LifeSavers, Breath Savers or Mentos type candy
  • One gallon-size zipper plastic bag (all items must fit inside and close without tearing)

WHY ARE WE SO PARTICULAR ABOUT WHAT GOES IN THE PACKET?
1. The Department of Corrections decides what goes in each packet.
2. All packets must contain the same items, quantity and sizes to prevent conflicts among inmates.
3. Extra items are removed in order to keep packets the same.

2011 Christmas Packets for Prisoners

What an amazing year for our prison ministry. Every packet LBA churches contributed are used to touch a life in prison. It opens the doors for prison ministry in months to come. Volunteers continue to build on this project throughout the year by meeting regularly with inmates for Bible study and encouragement. Nearly 1500 packets were given by LBA churches and 24,950 packets were received in total. What an amazing opportunity to show God’s love!

Please join us in thanking the following churches for their contribution to this year’s Christmas Prison Packets.
