Fair Ministry (October 12-25, 2009)

/files/My Sample Gallery/Photos/state fair clowns.jpg

It has been said that “mission begins at home.” Although this statement may or may not fully communicate a comprehensive mission strategy, it does remind us that we, as Lexington Baptists, are living in both a mission base and a mission field. The South Carolina State Fair Ministry offers an abundance of mission opportunities right here at home.  The dates for this year’s South Carolina State Fair ministry will be October 14-25th, and the Pre-Fair ministry will be from October 12-13, 2009.

We need over 300 volunteers to respond to the needs of the carnival workers, exhibitors, staff and visitors at this year’s fair.  Please pray about being a volunteer missionary at your own “back door.”

If you would like to volunteer please call Susan Berry at the Lexington Baptist Association. Please respond immediately to reserve the slot you need because sign-ups are on a first come first serve basis. susan@missionlba.org

LITERATURE ROUND UP!

We need your dated, unused 2008 to 2009 literature such as: Home Life, Journey, Parent Life, Christian Single, Mature Living, Open Windows, and Essential Connection.  We can use those old VBS Resource Kits, tracts & Bibles, hymnals, used Christian books from the media library and Christian music tapes & CD’s if they’re in good shape.  All items will be given away at our State Fair Ministry Booth.  Please help us by following these guidelines and put that good, unused literature to work for the Lord:

1.                  No used literature.  Please don’t bring items written on or in.  Throw them away.

2.                  Bring only items dated 2008 or 2009, except tracts and Bibles.

3.                  Sort by title. Don’t worry about sorting by date.

4.                  Only SBC literature.  We don’t have time to check non-SBC items for content.

5.                  Bring to Associational office by September 17.

6.                  Call 356-2543 for more information.

7.                  Church brochures to promote your church events can be distributed during Fair Week  (Deadline:  October 1)
