July 16-21st, 2012

World Changers is a national program where young people from all over the country will converge in a selected community to rehabilitate sub-standard housings where homeowners cannot afford to have their homes repair otherwise. World Changes will provide the supervised labor for free and homeowners, community agencies, churches are encouraged to provide the necessary building material.

How You Can Help

With this project, we will have many different opportunities to involve the local churches in our Association. The following are some of the ways a church can participate.

Serve as a Check–In Host – To provide assistance with the “check-in” logistics on.  Volunteers are needed to help prepare registration packets, help participants with unloading, directions, local information and refreshments, etc. This is a great half-day mission “trip” opportunity for family, youth group, mission group, SS class etc.

Serve as a Host ChurchProvide lunch for the crew each day on July 16-21st, 2012. Each crew will consist of 12-15 people. The crew will come to your church to eat lunch.

Host a WC Construction Site - Upon approval by our Construction Coordinator, your church can provide a house to be repaired, repainted, or re-roofed.

Provide a local Construction Crew Chief – Persons with experience and knowledge in construction are needed to serve as construction crew chief.

Provide construction Materials – Most homeowners approved for World Changers project list do not have the necessary resources for construction material. Churches, SS classes, mission groups are needed to donate construction supplies. Construction materials can range from $100 to $500.

Update/Report from World Changers 2011:

The churches in Lexington Baptist Association hosted 180 World Changers participants. Most of them came from North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, Tennessee and Georgia. These World Changers made repairs to 19 homes and buildings in our community. There were at least two known professions of faith and the gospel was shared dozens of times.

On Wednesday, Trinity Baptist Church (WC lodging facility), partnered with the World Changers participants, hosted a block party to further reach out to the local communities. It provided even more opportunities for the gospel to be shared with unbelievers in our county. First Calvary Baptist Church’s shower unit was ready and their maiden voyage was used to provide shower facility for the World Changers project. World Changers painted the classrooms at the chapel of DJJ and worked together with some of the DJJ youth on Friday on a gardening project. This work site allows our WC youth to have positive impact in the lives of the DJJ youth.
